Paige Matthews

 

Paige is the long-lost, half-sister of Prudence, Piper, and Phoebe Halliwell; the Charmed Ones.

Paige Matthews/Halliwell was the fourth child of Patty Halliwell, a good witch, and the Whitelighter, Samuel Wilder.  After Paige was born, Patty and Sam left the newborn baby to a nun named Sister Agnes at a local church, fearing the repercussions if the forbidden affair between a witch and a Whitelighter was ever discovered.  Patty left the baby with a blanket and asked that her name start with a P, like all the women of her family.

The baby was named Paige, and adopted by the Matthews.  Eventually her adopted parents died in a car crash.  After getting over her parents' death, Paige attempted to track down her real family.  She went to the police and learned of the church she was left at.  She checked around and suspected she was related to the Halliwell Sisters, but she somehow never approached them about it, since their mother was dead.  Paige then began a career as a social worker.

When Paige learned Prue Halliwell had died, she attended the funeral.   At the funeral, Paige finally got to meet her two sisters.  After the funeral, Paige and Shane, her boyfriend, went to a rooftop to make out and they were attacked by Shax.  Phoebe and her demonic boyfriend, Cole Turner, protected her.  After seeing Shane in the hospital, Paige went to the Halliwell Manor.  She was together with the Book of Shadows and her two sisters, for the first time, and they became the Charmed Ones.  Together, the reconstituted Charmed Ones were able to vanquish Shax.  Though it freaked Paige of what she was drawn into, she had later accepted her role when The Source had taken over Shane's body.

Having to deal with harassing co-workers, Paige tried to turn magic to make things better.  She borrowed the Book of Shadows and used spells from it to cure a co-worker of his acne, and after a few more minor spells, Paige cursed a harassing co-worker with unwanted attention from women, the spell backfired and made her breasts grow to enormous size, giving her the same unwanted attention.  Phoebe was able to reverse the effects in time.

Paige then started her witch training.  She learned Potion Basics under Piper and later about magic and supernatural evil.  Paige had learned that her past life was the Evil Enchantress.

Paige wasn't trustful of Cole when he married Phoebe, which proved her right when he was possessed by the magic of The Source.  During The Source's struggles to gain control of the Underworld, Paige had became a vampire, which didn't last long when Cole (the Source) saved her by killing the Vampire Queen.

Paige later quit her job as a social worker, when she was just promoted, and decided to become a full time witch.

The Elders assigned Paige her first charge, whom was actually Sam Wilder, her biological father.  The Elders were only using her to find Sam since he was made into a Whitelighter, again.  Though she resents him for abandoning her, she still loves him and hopes to see him once again.

When Paige tried to vanquish Cole to give Phoebe peace, Paige wound up in the river, and got a cold.  Whenever she sneezes, she orbs.  Cole had managed to change reality, and Paige consequently got caught in the warp (through sneezing, orbing and missing the effects of the time change), and was transported to the alternate reality.  She found out that she was in a reality where Phoebe and Piper never met her.  Paige was able to reunite her sisters to vanquish Cole, for good, and was then returned to her reality, and informed her sisters of Cole's (permanent) demise.

Paige's last name, Matthew(s) became Piper's son's middle name.

Paige decided to stop being a full time witch and to take on temp jobs.   In this capacity, she comes across innocents to help in most of her positions.

Paige had gained a romantic interest in Richard Montana, a male witch who was related to the feuding family, the Montana's; it didn't last long, when he wanted to drift away from her after losing his powers.

Paige had fought to save Magic School, and, in doing that, the Elders made her the headmistress of Magic School.  During that time, Paige had gained a romantic interest in Agent Kyle Brody, who was obsessed with information on the Avatars.  Agent Brody was killed, by an avatar, and made into a Whitelighter.

Paige has the power to orb herself and items in her environment...that is, cause them or herself to dematerialise in a glow of white light (orbs) and move at them or herself great speed.  For items in her environment, she can orb the item but maintain its momentum, which is often used as a method of turning energy balls or Darklighter arrows against their wielder. Orbing is generally a power only associated with Whitelighters, or their magical offspring. Paige still has other whitelighter abilities, such as intangibility, invisibility, and glamour. She is still a witch with the basic powers of casting spells and creating magical potions.
